6:00 AM
My wake up light alarm clock by Phillips starts to warm up, by 6:30 AM I am up and on the couch.
Over the past few weeks I’ve really worked on improving my mornings. I spend then next 30 or so minutes on the couch really waking up. I will watch tv, checkout Snapchat or YouTube.
7:15 AM
Time for a morning workout.
This is a fairly new regimen, I am back to working out as many days a week as possible. When this happens I slowly become obsessed with it. If its a run day, then I leave my house and head to the East River running path. If it’s a gym day I take the subway with my wife downtown she heads to work and I head to New York Health and Racquet Club.
8:00 AM
Shower, shave, get dressed, grab something to eat for breakfast and make lunch.
9:00 AM
Plug into a podcast and it’s time to head to Business Insider HQ.
9:30 AM
Arrive at BI, grab a water and sit down at my desk.
If I am the joke goalie, something we recently added to make stand up a little more fun, then I will spend a few minutes finding the best joke. More typically I spend some time now planning my day before the round of morning stand ups.
Recently, I’ve started writing out a plan for my days and it has super helpful. Day’s that I right out a plan are one hundred times more productive.
10:00 AM
Stand Ups, update the teams I am on with what I did yesterday and what I am hopefully doing today.
11:00 AM
Time to do some work.
I try to sprint myself from 11 to 1 PM and get as much done as possible. Some days are better then others.
1:00 PM Lunch Time
These days its a turkey sandwich, a seltzer, and some fruit at my desk.
1:30 PM
I spend the bulk of the afternoon getting through as much code as possible. Sometimes this is circumvented by a meeting or two, but thats usually out of my control.
5:00 PM
Normally I am plugged into a podcast and heading home. Right now though, I am taking a JavaScript class at General Assembly so Mondays and Wednesdays, I try to take a walk and have dinner before class at 6 PM.
6:00 PM
Home, relax a bit with the wife before we have dinner together. When either of us don’t have activities in the evening we have dinner together.
8:00 PM
Spend some time watching TV, catching up on freelance work, reading, or messing around on the internet.
10:00 PM or 11:00 PM
I am trying super hard to be in bed without my devices around this time each night.
It is surely a struggle but I know I want to wake up at 6 the next day and going to bed any later then this totally screws up the next day.
