Resolution Refresh

For several years in December, I would post a series of resolutions for the year ahead. This year 2015 into 2016, I did not write any resolutions and I feel as if this year I have yet to accomplish anything major. This year my resolutions are coming in April, just in time to get started in May. This is listed in order of priority, not just the ideal order but really where my focus needs to be in order to achieve.

Health & Fitness

About 5 years ago, losing weight was my most important goals. When I set out I joined Weight Watchers and I began working out religiously, and it was great I dropped nearly fifty pounds. Unfortunately over the past 2 years, I’ve gained a lot of it back. This has not only made me more unhealthy, but it has surely affected my happiness and my physical abilities. My goal now is between May 1 and October 1 is to lose twenty pounds, or roughly four pounds per month. This a doable goal.

My second goal in this category, is to take running seriously again. When I ran I am happier, I sleep better, and I am in general a better person. I am going to try my hardest to get back into this habit. I’ve been using a new Couch to 10K app on and off these past few weeks, its officially on.

Web Development

I’ve been a web developer full time now for three years, plus a few years before part-time moonlighting et cetera. Working full time on the web is great and I love it, however some of my skills seem to be getting a little stale. I am currently enrolled in Javascript Development course at General Assembly. This is definitely helping me level up my skills. Hopefully after the class ends, I will start working on a side project to continue building and honing my skills.

Podcast

A few years ago I launch How to Hold a Pencil. At the beginning I loved every minute of the podcast, I loved recording and editing. Most importantly the conversation helped form the foundation for the type of developer I’ve become. After a while though it became monotonous and it became more like work and less fun. I am planning on bringing it back this year, only in a way thats fun and valuable to me. In turn I think it will be valuable to the listeners.

That’s it three resolutions in, health & fitness, web development, and podcasting, all of which will help me be a better and happier person. You can follow my progress on all of the social networks and here on my blog. Here’s to the next half of the year!
