Wearable devices, aka FitBits and the Apple Watch have never really appealed to me. For some reason the point has yet to click. However a few months ago I saw a Kickstarter project for an amazing device called Mighty.
Simply the new device would let users take there Spotify playlists on runs without having to carry a cellphone.
I was in love, but I didn’t back the project. I’ve never backed a project on Kickstarter. I’ve bought several products that have been Kickstarted, but never offered funding from the beginning. Call my cynical, but I did not believe in paying up front for a product that may or may not exist in the future. Most of the times the projects are being done by people who have little experience in developing products.
Today everything changed, the guys who successfully Kickstarted the Pebble smart watch launched another campaign to build Pebble Core and a few new smart watches. I could careless about the Smart Watches but the Core answers all my prayers for a smart workout device.
I have dreamed of the day when I can have a device the size of an iPod Shuffle (remember those) that will store music from the cloud (aka Spotify) and track my runs. Now a reputable company, that has successful products and has successfully Kickstarted them before, is answering my prayers.
Today, I backed my first Kickstarter project. I won’t receive the device until January. They are fully funded seven times over but still if this is a device that could make your life better you should back them!
